Christmas vacation in the US

This year I celebrate christmas in the US with my family. It´s the first time I´ve been in the US in December, and what I expected was true, even worse. Key words are plastic, lights and shopping. I miss the Norwegian cold and dark wintertime, but hey, we´re still having a great time, christmas or not!

In the US, many people are so fat, they have to drive an electric car! ÆÆÆÆÆÆ! (screaming)

New profile for Rakkestad Kommune (part of my BA exam)

Rakkestad is a municipality in the county of Østfold, Norway. It´s one of Norway's largest agricultural areas. Cattle - and dairy farming, mechanical industry, forestry and woodworking are some of the industries.
In our BA exam we were trying to communicate Rakkestads personality and values. This is the illustration part of my solution.

The city of Rome

I opened up a TV to see what was inside, and this is what I found: the city of Rome! I recognized the city because of the famous Colosseum. The Colosseum is an elliptical amphitheatre in the center of the city of Rome, Italy, the largest ever built in the Roman Empire. It is one of the greatest works of Roman architecture and Roman engineering. Rome's history as a city spans over two and a half thousand years, as one of the founding cities of Western Civilization. And it has been inside my TV all this time!

My eraser collection

Oooh, my sweet sweet eraser collection! All the different shapes and colors make me happy!

(I DO NOT collect erasers, this is my collection from my childhood. I DO NOT swap erasers either.)

Inside someones home

I´m facinated by other peoples homes. All the stuff they´ve collected say something about who they are, who they want to be, what they have experienced, what they like and don´t like. Often, the objects are just there by coincidence, like in this picture. The wallpaper probably was fashionable once, the clock stopped ticking some years ago, the brush is still in use, the box has cotton in it, but has not been used in a very long time, and the doll is a bath foam bottle, and was a christmas gift 15 years ago.

Inspiration, «Alternative Comics»

Lately, I´ve been inspired by comics, mostly alternative comics. The term "alternative comics" is one of several labels applied to a range of comics that have appeared since about 1980. Typically, these are authored independently by a single creator; they are aimed at adult readers and are often formally experimental.

I´ve read Nordic comics the last two weeks, mostly biographical. Here are a couple of the comics that inspired me:

Nina Hemingson (Sweden) because of her honesty and the hysterically funny observations of life, and especially her characters who always seem to say the things we think for ourselves, but never say out loud.

Lars Fiske and Steffen Kvernlands work «Kanon» is a biographical comic that tells parts of the modern art history. We meet the artists Edvard Munch and Kurt Schwitters, the stories are drawn with two completely different teckniques, but the connection between these tho languages still works. They experiment with the traditional way of making comics, and use the two artists´ styles to form the visuals. Only by a glimpse at the pages, you know who the story is about and when this story is taking place. If you know your art history, of course!

Todays story: The Lamp in the Window

Today, when I ate my lunch, a lamp fell out the window from the 4th floor across the street. But it didn´t hit the street. It was hanging by it´s cord.

My classmate Max ran out to ring all the doorbells in the building. He asked: Is it your lamp hanging out of the window?

He got in contact with a girl from the building. She called the owner of the apartment. Maybe Max saved someone from getting a lamp in their head?

The end.
